GETTING READY FOR YOUR VISIT OR NOT DECIDED YET? - CHECK OUT THESE FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

IS THE ROAD ACCESSIBLE BY CAR?
IS THERE ANY PUBLIC TRANSPORT AVAILABLE?

The road from Tena to Jungle Roots is fully accessible even in a small car. It takes about 10-15 minutes to arrive.

There is local bus company Centinela that connects Tena with local communities as well as Jungle Roots. Though the bus departs every 45 minutes it is safe and economic option to move around.

is THERE FREE WIFI?

NO, there is NO wifi available (and no phone signal). You may actually discover something about yourself or others. Listen, feel, talk, observe and most importantly disconnect!

We are here to help you to book bus tickets for your next trip or give you more information or advice on your onward journey.

DO I NEED ANY CAMPING EQUIPMENT?
WHAT SHOULD I BRING?

NO, you don’t need to bring any camping equipment as all the room and tents are equipped with thick mattress, pillows and blankets as well as mosquito nets.

We recommend to bring:

  • reusable bottle to fill-up water,
  • boots or hiking sneakers if you are planning to go on a tour,
  • head-lamp or torch if your phone does not have it,
  • mosquito repellent,
  • small backpack to go on the tour or adventure,
  • swimming suit as there are rivers you can easily dip in,
  • raincoat or waterproof jacket.

WHAT ABOUT MOSQUITOS AND OTHER INSECTS?

As you may expect the Amazon jungle is full of huge variety of bugs, insects and different creatures – we won’t lie to you about that but there is really no reason to panic.

We definitely recommend to you to bring a mosquito repellent (especially if you are planning to go on a tour!). Some seasons of the year bring less mosquitoes but better to stay protected. All beds have a mosquito nets to protect you from uninvited night visitors.

WHERE IS THE NEAREST SUPERMARKET?
SHOULD I BRING MY OWN FOOD?

The nearest big supermarket is in Tena so we recommend to do your shopping before arrival. There is a fridge and food boxes available to store your food if you want to prepare your own meals as well as equipped kitchen with some basics and spices to cook. Please do not bring plastic single-use water bottles – there is free purified water available to re-fill. And most importantly – minimize the plastic waste that you would leave behind. Shop at local stores where they do not wrap every single thing in a plastic. And doing so you are helping local producers as well!

There is free coffee and tea available. There are always some cold beers in the fridge (extra cost). 🙂

HOW CAN I BOOK DINNER OR A TOUR?

If you wish to have a dinner on your arrival date please contact us in advance via any of our channels of communication. Please include any dietary restrictions or preferences. You DO NOT NEED to book dinner for all days in advance.

There is no need to book a tour in advance either (only in case if you are planning to arrive very late and you would like to go on the tour next day). We recommend to book a tour upon arrival as our guides can explain to you everything in details.

IS THIS AREA SAFE?

This area is generally safe area. During the day you can safely explore the area and local communities on foot or a bike on your own but you should always be back in the camping before night as some parts of the road are not very well illuminated.

We definitely do not recommend to make trips deeper to the jungle by yourself. You should always be accompanied by experienced guides as you may very easily get lost.

IS THERE FREE PARKING AVAILABLE FOR GUESTS?

YES, there is free outdoor parking available for our guests with no additional cost.
