Our mission is to provide sustainable travel experience that everyone can enjoy. We believe that tourism and protecting nature can go hand in hand, promoting awareness is and always will be part of our commitment.
AND THIS IS WHAT WE MEAN BY THAT ...
SUSTAINABLE CONSTRUCTION MATERIALS
Great part (as much as possible) of our facilities and cabins are constructed with sustainable materials such as bamboo and scrap wood rescued from the rivers’ banks. We also use old recycled car tires, plastic or glass bottles and different natural materials for construction.
No trees were cut within our terrains for purpose of construction! And many found their way to become living part of the construction itself.
TRASH RECYCLING
We work our trash!
- Organic waste goes straight to the compost.
- Plastic bags are separated to be reused as well as plastic bottles.
- Glass bottles that cannot be returned are collected for construction purposes.
- Paper is mainly reused to start a fire.
- We also rescue old furniture, refrigerators, door frames, … and get creative! 🙂
- We kindly ask and recommend to our guests to be conscious of the trash that they are bringing along. – Shop locally, less plastic better and bring along a reusable water bottle that you can fill up for free in the camping!
DRY ECOLOGICAL TOILETS
Dry toilets combine two decisive factors: NO contamination to the rivers and NO wasting water. By using dry ecological toilets not only we do not dumb any waste water that will end up in local rivers that are so vital to the local communities, animals, plants and all of us but we also can produce rich fertilizer once this organic waste is stored and processed naturally under certain conditions.
Not only our toilets have spectacular views but they are as hygienic as any other toilet (and honestly, smell better 😉 )
EDUCATIONAL ACTIVITIES & CULTURAL EXCHANGE
We collaborate with schools and universities on projects towards raising awareness and sharing direct solutions promoting sustainable tourism and protecting nature.
It is also important for us to share our mission and commitments with our guests who want to learn about our way of doing things, sustainable construction, local culture and local problems.
RECOLLECTING RAIN WATER TO REUSE SUSTAINABLY
Taking advantage of local climate, rain water is collected in tanks, run through filters to be reused for example for washing or showering.
JOB OPPORTUNITIES FOR LOCALS
Part of our commitment is also to provide employment and jobs for local people in form of creating long-term positions, contracting local constructors or buying food, materials locally.
LOCAL ARTISAN PRODUCTS
We collaborate with local artisans to promote their work such as ceramics, organic soaps, handbags from recycled materials, chocolate and more (depending on availability).
